DOCK-BI “Development Of Connections between the Key ports of Brindisi and Igoumenitsa” is an infrastructural project financed by Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme 2014/2020 aimed at upgrading port areas and cross-border ferry connectivity between the key ports of Brindisi and Igoumenitsa.
The ASI Consortium of Brindisi is the lead beneficiary of this project in cooperation with two Italian partners – the Southern Adriatic Sea Ports Authority and the Municipality of Brindisi– and two Greek partners- the Igoumenitsa Port Authority and the Municipality of Igoumenitsa.
OBJECTIVES
Since maritime transport plays a key role in the local economy of the two countries, DOCK-BI faces a common cross-border challenge: to improve the unsatisfactory multimodal accessibility and fill in the lack of integration and interconnection of transport modes between the two ports. How? Through implementing strategic infrastructural interventions able to boost maritime transport and improve accessibility and integration with ports’ adjacent areas. To fulfil this objective, the project foresees some infrastructural strategic interventions aimed at fostering maritime transport and improving accessibility and integration with the areas adjacent to the two ports.
OUTPUTS
The infrastructural interventions foreseen in the port areas of Brindisi and Igoumenitsa are the following:
RESULTS
Not only passengers, tourists and economic operators, but also inhabitants, transport stakeholders and port authorities will directly and indirectly benefit from a modern and enhanced cross-border mobility between Italy and Greece thanks to the infrastructural interventions foreseen by DOCK-BI. Also, the project innovative approach in dealing with the integration of transport modality in the involved areas will be a growth driver for both Puglia and Greece in terms of competitiveness and attractiveness of the entire region across the Adriatic – Ionian maritime border.

DOCK-BI “Development Of Connections between the Key ports of Brindisi and Igoumenitsa” è un progetto infrastrutturale finanziato dal Programma Interreg V-A Grecia-Italia 2014/2020 finalizzato all’ammodernamento delle aree portuali e al miglioramento della connettività transfrontaliera dei traghetti tra i porti di Brindisi e Igoumenitsa.
Grazie agli interventi infrastrutturali previsti da DOCK-BI, non solo i passeggeri, i turisti e gli operatori economici, ma anche gli abitanti, i vari stakeholder del settore trasporti e le autorità portuali sono direttamente e indirettamente beneficiari di una mobilità transfrontaliera migliore e moderna tra Italia e Grecia. Inoltre, l’approccio innovativo del progetto nell’affrontare l’integrazione delle modalità di trasporto nelle aree coinvolte, sarà volano di crescita sia per la Puglia che per la Grecia, in termini di competitività e attrattività dell’intera regione attraverso il confine marittimo Adriatico-Ionio.
